Outdoor Routes

This is a great skate! It is around 5 miles and not flat (even though the bridge may look that way!). You really need to do this one when it is nice and sunny and there is no wind (evening are great as the sun sets between the towers!). From Aust Services go up to the petrol station and cross the road, follow the steps down. You will go across the top of the toll booths (and the M48!). Then, turn right and follow the path. After a short climb you will go down a fairly steep slope onto the bridge. Be aware that mopeds, motorcycles, pedestrians and cyclists also use the path and you won't see them from the top. Then head over the bridge. On the other side (after the second bridge that crosses the river Wye) you can head down a footpath that connects to an underpass that will take you across to the other side of the bridge for a figure of eight circuit (turn left after the underpass).
Short route (about 10 minutes each way) that takes you under the second Severn Crossing. The views are great and the surface is really good (on account of the wind blowing all the stones off!). It's usually pretty quiet too - makes it a great place to try skating outdoors for the first time.
Another great skate! It's flat and the tarmac is pretty good from the Sea-Life centre northwards (towards the Grand Pier). You can also get Chips and and Ice-Cream afterwards. The downside is that it's a very public place so you'll need to avoid people and it does get crowded. Parking is free after 7pm (I think) on the sea front (which is why we start at the Southern End). The full length is probably around 4 miles there and back - but easy enough to do it twice.
